Objective
Hi there! My name is Elisa Xu. I’m a current health misinformation reporter at NewsGuard Technologies, a company that rates the credibility of news sites and fact-checks false claims online.
While I've built up a strong background in fact-checking and health misinformation reporting, I’m looking to pivot to journalism roles focused on editing, project management, and copy editing. Before NewsGuard, I was a special projects fellow at Business Insider. There, I found I thrived doing the more behind-the-scenes work of planning editorial calendars, copy editing projects, and coordinating with editors for article series. I’d love to apply the skills I've gained in fact-checking, copy editing, and project management to a new role where I can contribute to stories beyond the reporting aspect.
My end goal is to use my skills to help shape impactful stories that highlight underrepresented identies and stories. This is what inspired me to pursue journalism when I was in college, and this mission still drives me today.
