Science & Environment Reporter
St. Louis Public Radio |
At St. Louis Public Radio, I reported brief news spots and features for the local daily Morning Edition and All Things Considered broadcasts. The topics I covered included river flooding, toxic waste sites, coal ash waste, recycling, urban agriculture, and scientific research at local universities and research institutions. I also forged a partnership between the NPR station and The Story Collider, a nonprofit organization that organizes live stage storytelling events and produces a podcast to bridge the connection between science and the general public. As a part of that work, I coached scientists, comedians and folks from all walks of life to tell personal stories about science.

Senior Editor of Audio
National Geographic |
I edited many of the episodes for the award-winning Overheard at National Geographic, a podcast that dives into exploration, history and other stories and topics within the National Geographic universe. I also worked with our executive producer to manager workflows on a small team, transitioned the podcast from a seasonal to weekly cadence, and coordinated with marketing and business strategy on content deliverables. During my time at the company, we also significantly increased representation of BIPOC voices and our data collection and analysis showed that more than 40 percent of the voices on Overheard represented were people of color.

Science and General Assignment Reporter, Weekend Newscaster

I covered sea level rise, coastal erosion, wastewater management issues, animal conservation, local scientific research, and various other topics relevant to the state of Delaware. I also hosted breaks during Weekend Edition. I also forged a partnership between the station and iSeeChange, a community climate journal focused on using residents' observations of a changing planet to produce stories about climate change.
