In one year at the Seoul newsroom, where I have worked since August 2021, I did international reporting and wrote 90 news items on mass shootings, Covid, Ukraine, elections, Abe assassination, authored five enterprise stories on South Korean hospitals, conscription, politics, and reported on the Koreas, Japan, China, Singapore, Canada, South Asia, the U.S. I also supported bureau chiefs and correspondents on interviews with Korean-speaking sources. On the coronavirus tracking team from August 2020 to August 2021, I contributed to the team awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2021, tracked coronavirus case and vaccination counts via phone, email and web searches, and filed over 100 FOIA requests for data from universities and health departments.
