My name is Kevin Vu and I am currently a rising student journalist at the University of Texas at Austin. Since my freshman year at UT, I have worked at one of the biggest student-run college newspapers in the United States, in multiple roles. I have worked as a news reporter focusing on different beats such as research, breaking news, COVID-19 and health/safety in UT. I have worked almost every day producing two to three stories a week, tweeting out breaking news and attending events to cover. I then went on to work as a news desk editor, where I worked with reporters and helped them out with their stories if they are having trouble with them, and eventually edited them, looking over any grammatical and style errors.

Working within the College of Natural Science at UT, I helped produce stories and content about research that was recently published or is currently being worked on, feature stories, and covered different events at the college. I also take photos for the college, either for events or headshot portraits. Although research stories can be very challenging to write, especially when it comes to technical subjects such as mathematics, I strive to focus on the topic, making sure everything is accurate from the details about the research to even the research itself, much like a news story.
