I’m a fourth-year at San Diego State University where I’m double majoring in journalism and Asian American studies. I have experience in written and multimedia journalism. I’m passionate about community-centered reporting and am particularly interested in covering the AAPI community. eager to contribute to a news organization where I can further develop my reporting skills.
Attended public meetings, requested public documents and communicated with government officials to report on local affairs. Synthesized news from outside organizations to contribute weekly to the Morning Report newsletter. Assisted reporters with investigative stories by reviewing meeting agendas and board letters, interviewing public meeting attendees and calling sources to verify information.
Collaborated with reporters and editors to produce social media posts and short form videos across platforms (Instagram, X, BlueSky, Facebook). Assisted with research and fact-checking process. Produced a story through multiple mediums including broadcast, radio and web.
Manage daily operations alongside EIC and visual director by leading 16 editors. Copy edit across written sections before publication ensuring accuracy and adherence to AP style. Streamline communication between written and visual sections for efficient workflow. Mediate internal staff conflicts and coordinate with external agencies for publication.
Cover the local events beat by producing one story per week about a community-led event or action. Capture photos and videos at the event. Consistently meet a 24 hour deadline requirement for stories. Design the social media carousel post for each weekly story. Write content for weekly round up newsletters about either local events or immigration news.
