Objective
I am a digital journalist with two decades of experience in reporting, writing, social media, audience engagement, audience data analysis as well as newsroom strategy. My main objective in journalism is to ensure that newsrooms are covering the diversity of the audiences they aim to serve. To do this I believe that stories should be produced in more than one way. Every story can be told in at least six different ways depending on what kind of audience you want to target. As a journalist of color, I will always work to find and tell stories that highlight unheard voices. I aim to produce and support journalism founded on diversity, equity and inclusion.
My journalism career is also fueled by a strong desire to learn all aspects of the industry – from covering a variety of beats to learning the ins and outs of audience, social media, and best practices for breaking news and newsroom strategy. Additionally, producing social video, audio and graphics when a newsroom is short-staffed. I always aim to be a resourceful journalist who can pivot as needed.
