KUSA-TV, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate in Denver, CO is looking for a Morning News Executive Producer to serve as a leader to our producers and keep improving and elevating 9NEWS Mornings, 4:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. This person must be a creative, motivational, and experienced newsroom leader. They will jump in and help lead breaking news coverage.
The ideal candidate should love teaching and giving regular feedback, as we work to provide the very best news coverage possible across all platforms. This role will also be responsible for leading daily editorial conversations and making sure our content reflects the diverse communities we represent. This person should also be able to be a leader in the control room, assisting with breaking news and communication. They also need to be able to produce and booth a newscast, as needed. This critical team member will assist in other newsroom duties, such as coordinating with the assignment desk, digital team and fellow newsroom leaders.

Pay range: $70,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience
The Executive Producer will:
Manage the daily performance of the 9NEWS Morning team
Lead the morning editorial process
Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure they meet our strategic goals to fit our brand
Continually coach newscast producers to create unique shows with strong showcasing
Review and approve scripts and rundowns to ensure accuracy and quality
Lead regular show reviews both with the 9NEWS Mornings team and with individual producers
Use research and audience feedback to improve 9NEWS Mornings
Have an audience-first mindset to meet the needs of our audience
Lead breaking news coverage
Lead teams in the creation of unique, shareable content
Inspire enterprise stories and coordinate special coverage with news leadership team
Identify daily opportunities to have our news get noticed and reach new audiences
Recruit and coach new producers
Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content
Work with the digital desk to identify and assign content appropriately for each platform
Work collaboratively with other managers and perform tasks as required by Sr. News Leadership and Executive Committee
Applicants must have major breaking news experience, strong editorial judgment, newscast producing expertise and fully understand the needs of our audience across all platforms
Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
Experience successfully leading teams through content transformation
The ideal candidate should be adept at creating an audience-focused content calendar that aligns with research and the needs of our audience
Strong organizational, motivational and communication skills
3+ years leadership experience preferred as a senior producer, EP or newsroom manager
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications preferred
