Job Description

Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska’s NPR and PBS Station is looking for an IT System Engineer who will have the responsibility to; perform system and server support for NPM server/systems infrastructure. Maintain and configure servers (Windows/Linux/VMware). Design, install and integrate systems for NPM. Diagnose and troubleshoot systems, hardware, software and connectivity problems for the infrastructure. Install computer hardware and software, provide maintenance for PC’s, laptops, printers, and associated peripherals (tier 2) for NPM. Provide end user support for enterprise level applications. Research information pertaining to the integration of computer hardware and software in all areas. Maintain the computer hardware and software inventory and perform technical issue resolution under ITS policies and guidelines. Perform testing and evaluation for the development of change and its implementation for the best output. Job Requirements

Associates degree in computer science, information technology or closely related field plus 3 years of experience working in an IT computer support environment; equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered. Certifications may substitute for related experience.

Experience must demonstrate familiarity with virtual environments and support of enterprise applications; extensive skill with troubleshooting hardware and software; skill with Microsoft networking, server, and desktop operating systems; and printer troubleshooting skills. Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Ideal Candidate will have experience with VOIP phone systems and an understanding of network connectivity systems, including storage and inter-operation; be familiar with PCs, Mac computers, laptops and other computer peripherals; possess understanding of non-linear video editing including storage and inter-operation; possess Mac and Linux OS skills and be familiar with VPN configurations. Preferred Licenses/Certifications: A+ or MCP Certification; CompTIA Linux+ Certified Professional; CompTIA Network+ Certified Professional.
