We are a mission-driven news organization – one of the first non-profit newsrooms -- with a tradition of excellence and a passion for serving the K-12 education field. At Education Week, we believe that our nation’s historic racism against Black people and other people of color has deeply influenced public education in a range of ways, from a patchwork funding system that sustains inequity of resources to echoing and perpetuating cultural and racial biases in classrooms and curricula. Highlighting these impacts has long been a core tenet of our mission and we recognize that to properly serve that mission our organization must understand these influences much more deeply. In addition, our editors have often served as conduits for future EdWeek employees, and we are eager to expand our in-house networks to a wider, more diverse sphere of journalism. With those things in mind, we strongly encourage applications from journalists who are members of traditionally underrepresented communities.
